Jefferson City High School to kick off homecoming season

Fall sports have arrived, and that means Homecoming.

Jefferson City High School will be the first of the area schools to hold a Homecoming celebration. The "Wild West" Homecoming takes place this week.

Students will participate in spirit day themes to celebrate, including:

• Mornin' Monday: Wear pajamas.

• Wild West vs. West Coast: Dress western or West Coast.

• Howdy Partna': Dress as twins.

• Most Wanted: Dress as celebrities.

• Wild About Jay Pride Friday: Wear Jay gear.

JCHS will hold its Powder Puff game at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Adkins Stadium. Admission is $5, and the Homecoming court will be presented at halftime. Students will have a bonfire immediately after at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and Jackson Street.

The Homecoming parade will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in downtown Jefferson City, followed by a pep rally on the north side of the Capitol.

Students will attend an assembly Friday afternoon, where the court will be presented, and the Homecoming game will take place at 7 p.m. against Smith-Cotton at Adkins Stadium. There will also be a court presentation at halftime.

The week's events will culminate in a Homecoming dance from 8-11 p.m. Saturday at Fleming Fieldhouse. Admission is $7 and students must show a student ID and an advance-purchased ticket.

Helias Catholic High School will hold its Homecoming next week, and Blair Oaks High School and Russellville High School will have Homecoming the week after that. Capital City High School will hold its Homecoming the week of Oct. 17.
