Hogs for Hope nears

The Salvation Army of Jefferson City is to host its annual Hogs for Hope fundraiser 4-7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Center of Hope, 927 Jefferson St.

The event is free to the public.

The bike show will support the Center of Hope shelter and its services.

The Salvation Army is teaming up with Solid Rock Church, which will provide a fish fry during the event. Fish, hot dogs and desserts will be available.

The curious may take free motorcycle or sidecar rides and get their pictures taken with some classic motorcycles.

A $10 entry fee (for each motorcycle) allows folks to enter their bikes in the show. Classes will include "American," "Metric" and "Trikes."

First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded.

Register bikes at salvationarmyjeffcity.org in advance or in person on the day of the show, beginning at 3 p.m.

Vote on your favorite bikes (to crown The People's Champion) by placing money in kettles associated with the bikes. The People's Champion will receive a championship belt and bragging rights.

All proceeds will go toward ongoing projects and updates for the facilities.
