The Missouri School Counselor Association has recognized Blair Oaks Middle School's counseling program for excellence in school counseling.

Blair Oaks Middle School in Wardsville is one of only 12 Missouri schools to have earned the recognition, according to a news release from the district.

Maria Stokes is the school counselor.

The program was awarded the Gysbers Nationally Recognized Missouri Program Award, which recognizes exemplary work in school counseling that is "data-driven" and based on the Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program.

To earn the award, the school spent more than a year submitting documentation and the program was "evaluated and analyzed in great detail."
