Cole County students earn state honors for 4-H shooting sports

Cole County 4-H had a strong showing in the State Shooting Sports end-of-year awards ceremony Oct. 15, with 23 members earning honors for their performance at state shooting competitions, according to information provided by Cole County Shooting Sports officials and educators.

Cole County teams earned the top prize in Senior Small-bore Pistol; Senior Muzzle Loading; Intermediate Small-bore Rifle, Aperture; Senior Archery 300, finger release; and Intermediate Archery 300, finger release.

Team members were also recognized for their efforts at the National 4-H Shooting Sports competition in Nebraska and for serving on the state ambassador team.

In Senior Small-bore Pistol, Taylor Riley, Kyle Prenger and Sophia Sandbothe all finished in the top 10, and the team earned first place.

In Intermediate Muzzle Loading, Ethan Stammer earned second place.

In Senior Muzzle Loading, Caleb Farris, Max Black and Toni Haselhorst all finished in the top 10, and the team earned first place.

In Senior Small-bore Rifle 50 yards, Toni Haselhorst earned first place and Kali Kunz earned third place.

In Junior Small-bore Rifle Aperture, Colt Berendzen earned fourth place.

In Intermediate Small-bore Rifle Aperture, Riley Berendzen, Blake Bode and Madisyn Seuss finished in the top five, and the team earned first place.

In Junior Air Pistol, Liam Stapp earned ninth place.

In Intermediate Air Pistol, Madisyn Seuss earned third place and Tyler Sandbothe earned fifth place.

In Senior Air Pistol, Taylor Riley earned sixth place.

In Junior Air Rifle Aperture, Blaine Nilges earned ninth place.

In Intermediate Air Rifle Aperture, Addyson Randolph earned fourth place and Soren Stapp earned eighth place.

In Senior Air Rifle Aperture, Ava Nilges earned sixth place.

In Senior Archery 300, finger release, Casey Farris, Ava Nilges, Kali Kunz and William Lloyd all finished in the top five, and the team earned first place.

In Intermediate Archery 300, finger release, Tyler Sandbothe, Christopher Rau and Soren Stapp all finished in the top ten, and the team earned first place.

In Junior Archery 300, finger release, Liam Stapp earned fifth place, and the team including Stapp, Waylon Rollins and Isaac Korte, earned second place.

In Senior Archery 600, recurve, Sophia Sandbothe earned first place.
