YOUR OPINION: Amendment 4

Loretta Broker, Lohman

Dear Editor,

Here we go again. The Missouri legislators want to demand how much money every police board in the state must budget for its own local police force. This is a repeat of Attorney General Eric Schmitt suing any local school board that did not agree with him on masks for the public-school students in their own districts to prevent the spread of COVID.

Every city and town elects their own police and school boards because they trust those individuals to know the local districts' needs more than state legislators in Jefferson City. This is the same group of politicians who don't want the federal government telling them what to do. What hypocrites.

We don't want another constitutional amendment telling us local citizens how to run our communities.
