Sheltered Workshop Picnic scheduled for Sunday

Millard Family Chapels will host the annual Sheltered Workshop Picnic event at Apple Creek Farm at Centertown from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

All adults and children with special needs, not limited to Sheltered Workshop employees, are welcome to this free event to enjoy food, a petting zoo, helicopter tours, race cars, hayrides and more.

Reid Millard with Millard Family Chapels has hosted the annual event for more than 25 years, inviting local sheltered workshop employees to his family farm for an afternoon of fun. However, due to safety concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic, the picnic was canceled for the last two years. Instead, the Millard Family Chapels team visited local sheltered workshops to give candy and treats to employees.

As of this year, Millard has sold Apple Creek Farm to Kaitlyn Voss and Dustin Kremer who now own and operate the venue. Although under new ownership, Millard is bringing the event back to the farm, located at 620 Murphy Ford Road.

To RSVP to the event, employees can contact their sheltered workshop office, and other individuals or families can contact Millard Family Chapels' office at 573-636-2778.
