Prep Softball: Jefferson City 13, Smith-Cotton 0

SEDALIA -- Avrey Reynolds pitched a three-hit shutout and Summer Branch hit a solo home run Monday, leading the Jefferson City Lady Jays to a 13-0 win in six innings against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers in Central Missouri Activities Conference play.

Jefferson City led 1-0 after three innings, then scored four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and seven in the sixth to win by run-rule.

Reynolds struck out nine and walked one in the pitcher’s circle. At the plate, she went 4-for-4 with three singles, one double and three RBI.

Jaela Nickerson was 3-for-4 with three singles and two RBI, while Amelia Cripe was 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBI. Emma Friedman added a pair of doubles.

Jefferson City (13-15, 2-4 CMAC) plays Wednesday at Class 3 No. 10 Southern Boone. First pitch is at 5 p.m. in Ashland.

The Lady Jays also won Monday’s JV game 11-6, improving their record to 7-6.
