Jefferson City boys open with road victory

SEDALIA -- The Jefferson City Jays used a big second quarter Tuesday night to roll to a 76-40 victory against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers in Central Missouri Activities Conference action.

Smith-Cotton led 12-10 after one quarter. But the Jays outscored the Tigers 32-14 in the second quarter to take a 42-26 advantage into halftime.

Jefferson City extended its advantage to 55-38 going into the fourth quarter. The final half of the fourth quarter was played with the running clock.

Jordan Martin led Jefferson City with 28 points. Steven Samuels added 18, while Rowen Buffington chipped in with 11.

Robert Ballance led Smith-Cotton (0-1) with 21 points, while Nikiah Cole added 10.

Jefferson City (1-0) is back in action Dec. 1-3 in the Phog Allen Invitational at William Chrisman. The Jays will open against Lee’s Summit North.
