A Jefferson City man faces drug possession and stealing charges in Cole County after an incident at a local Dollar General.
Police were called to the location along West Business 50 on Sunday when store employees called to report a man believed to have recently stolen from the store had returned. Officers spoke with the suspect, 29-year-old Christopher Rice, and moved the conversation out of the store and into the parking lot.
When dispatchers located the previous call from the store regarding stealing, the officer found probable cause to arrest Rice, the report states. During a search of his vehicle, police reportedly found a baggy with one gram of a white crystal substance that tested positive for meth. They also located a stick of deodorant on his person, which he admitted to stealing from the store Sunday.
Rice has previous convictions for robbery and stealing, court records show.
