Boys Basketball: Calvary Lutheran 59, New Bloomfield 43

NEW BLOOMFIELD -- The Calvary Lutheran Lions started their season on the right foot Tuesday, using a hot start to pick up a 59-43 win against the New Bloomfield Wildcats.

The Lions jumped out to a 26-10 lead after the first quarter and took a 36-20 lead into halftime after a stalemate in the second.

Calvary Lutheran extended its lead to 50-31 at the end of the third quarter before closing out the 16-point win in the fourth.

The Lions were led by Kyle Hagemeyer with 23 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists, while Kwesi Hall and Jesse Jorgensen joined him in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Calvary Lutheran (1-0) will play its home opener next Tuesday against Smithton.

New Bloomfield (0-3) opens the Tipton Tournament on Monday against Versailles.
