Osage River bridge work to potentially delay traffic next week

One westbound lane of the U.S. 50 bridge over the Osage River will be closed Monday through Friday.

Contracted crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin work under the westbound Osage River bridge as part of a larger $1.2 million project to rehabilitate both bridges over the Osage River and the eastbound U.S. 50 bridge over the Moreau River.

The rehabilitation work includes adding protective coatings, sandblasting and painting steel, installing new drains and adding a rock blanket for protection. Work on the Moreau River bridge will include installing new expansion joints, adding protective coatings, sandblasting and painting steel, installing a new drain, and pile repair.

The upcoming work will close one lane of traffic and reduce speed through the work zone. Traffic delays are possible 8 a.m.-3 p.m., according to a MoDOT news release. The department urged motorists to stay patient and obey traffic signs.

The entire project is expected to be complete in December.
