FULTON, Mo. -- Filing reopened Wednesday for the Callaway County auditor position.

Incumbent Karen Rentschler put in to run again during the original filing period, which closed March 29.

County Clerk Rhonda Miller said Rentschler came in Tuesday to withdraw from the race after accepting another position.

Tuesday was the last day for withdrawals.

Since Rentschler, who ran Republican, was the only candidate, Miller reopened filing for five business days, starting Wednesday.

The last day for candidates and issues to be certified for the August ballet is May 24. The ballot is certified by the secretary of state and the county clerk.

Miller said she had one person come in and file on the first day.

County resident Rylee Page filed as a Republican, she said.

Those interested in filing can do so at the clerk's office in the Callaway County Courthouse in Fulton.

Miller said candidates need to bring a 5120 form, which can be found on the clerk's website and $100 to go to the party they file with.

Essentially, Miller said, the form is to show that someone is up on their taxes.

Had no one filed before closing, the governor would appoint someone to the position.
