Dear Editor:

According to the Washington Post, Donald Trump told 30,753 lies or misleading claims while he was president. Trump stated "there were very fine people on both sides" in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. He didn't exclude neo-Nazis until the presidential debate with Joe Biden.

Brian Sicknick, a Capitol police officer, died during the Trump inspired riot on Jan. 6, 2021. More than 140 officers were injured. Ashli Babbit was shot by an officer who was protecting the House speaker's office. He was not charged. Unfortunately, Trump spent 90 minutes watching the riot on TV without doing anything to stop it. He has promoted the Big Lie that he won the election. He has lost 60 court cases, numerous recounts, attempted to subvert Mike Pence and Brad Raffensberger to "fix" the election for him.

Biden made no claim that the sanctions would deter Russia from invading. He said: "No one expected anything from happening. This is going to take time." Biden has led NATO in supplying Ukraine with the armaments used to successfully defend Ukraine. During his presidential campaign, Trump described NATO as obsolete. President Zelensky of Ukraine was elected by 74 percent of voters in a fair and free election. He has suspended 11 minor political parties because of their links to Russia during a period of martial law.

Republicans tried to turn the hearings on Judge Kentanji Jackson Brown into a culture war for purely political reasons. They attacked her for being a public defender and meting out light sentences on child porn offenders. Her sentences were about average with other judges. Instead of being baited into hypothetical cases, she stated her role as a judge was to address disputes about definitions and interpret the laws.

Biden wanted people to follow the CDC's recommendations on masks and vaccines. The unvaccinated are 20 times more likely to die from COVID than the vaccinated. Trump held superspreader maskless events and spread false cures such as bleach, sunshine and hydroxychlorquine. He consequently caught COVID himself.

The invasion of Ukraine, hyper growth of oil profits, and failure of oil companies to drill new wells are all factors driving the price of oil. Biden has released oil from the national reserve, released additional oil lease land, and allowed E15 to be sold in summer to alleviate the price of gas. The Keystone pipeline is about 8 percent complete and doesn't affect prices.
