Primrose Retirement Community of Jefferson City was recently recognized for its happy and healthy atmosphere with the Distinguished Community of the Year award presented by its parent company.

Primrose, a community featuring 40 assisted living homes, 36 independent living apartments and eight town home villas, was one of 10 communities recognized with the award this year, according to a release. The award was presented in April during the company's annual leadership retreat in Nashville.

Primrose launched its first community in 1991 in South Dakota and has grown to 31 facilities across the Midwest, with the Jefferson City location opening its doors in 2015.

Residents have access to common areas and activities, such as a bistro, outdoor gazebo, pub, game room, a chapel and a wellness center. The facility offers a myriad of activities for its residents, including frequent Garden Therapy collaborations with the Bittersweet Garden Club and other community groups.

Primrose is located at 1214 Freedom Blvd. For more information, visit primroseretire ment.com.
