Dear Editor:

The Jefferson City Cantorum singing group recently gave a well-received selection of familiar melodies ranging from Elton John and The Beatles to the Casablanca Theme, "As Time Goes By." Conducted by Suzanne Barber Kitchen and accompanied by Jan Houser, pianist, the 40-member chorus gave an enthusiastic crowd of music lovers at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City a varied program of musical favorites on Saturday night, May 3.

Two high school seniors who sing in the Cantorum, Rylea Spencer and Lauren Holsapple, received J. Patrick Healey College Scholarships and individual recognition at the concert.

Instrumentalists assisting in the performance were Will Kimlinger, alto saxophone; Bonnie Verdot, string bass; Chris Isom, percussionist; and piano students of Jan Houser, in the sanctuary.

The next planned Cantorum concert will be on Dec. 10 at the Miller Performing Arts Center in Jefferson City.
