Prep Baseball: Linn 13, Bourbon 1

NEW HAVEN -- Aidan Kline hit a grand slam and Austin Dudenhoeffer struck out nine batters Friday, leading the Linn Wildcats to a 13-1 win in five innings against the Bourbon Warhawks in the first round of the Class 3 District 8 Tournament.

Linn scored in every inning, which included a nine-run outburst in the top of the fourth inning. Kline’s big blast highlighted that inning for the Wildcats.

Linn had 13 hits, as Kline finished 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored. Seth Wolfe and Dudenhoeffer each had a single and a double, while Keagan Heywood and Arlyn Martin added two singles each.

Heywood, Dudenhoeffer, Martin and Curtis Deeken each had two RBI for the Wildcats.

On the mound, Dudenhoeffer pitched all five innings in the win, allowing one run on three hits and two walks to improve his record to 2-1.

Bourbon, the No. 4 seed, ends its season with a 3-12 record.

Linn (4-12), the No. 5 seed, plays top-seeded Hermann (11-10) at 10 a.m. today in the semifinals.
