Motorcyclist injured after hitting deer

A man from Omaha, Nebraska, was killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday morning in Cole County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred at 6:05 a.m. on Rock Bridge Road at Frog Hollow Road.

Omar Mendez Lopez, 36, went off the left side of the road, overcorrected, then returned to the road. He then went off the right side of the road and struck a sign and two fences.

Mendez Lopez was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, Eddy Reyes, 37, of Jefferson City, was wearing a seat belt and was treated for serious injuries.

A Bland man was injured after hitting a deer in the road while riding his motorcycle Thursday night.

Patrol reports state the collision occurred at 11:10 p.m. on Route Y in Osage County, just east of Rock Bottom Road.

Scot Abernathy, 48, was not wearing a helmet and was treated for serious injuries.
