College Softball: Oregon's Kliethermes earns ninth win

by News Tribune | May 14, 2022 at 12:35 a.m.

STANFORD, Calif. -- Oregon junior pitcher Makenna Kliethermes pitched 5⅓ innings last Saturday, leading Oregon to a 5-1 win against Stanford.

Kliethermes (Blair Oaks High School) gave up one run on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk, as she improved her season record to 9-5.

In 28 appearances this season, including 15 starts, Kliethermes is second on the Ducks with a 3.79 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 101⅔ innings pitched. She has tossed five complete games with one shutout.

Oregon, ranked No. 22 in Division I by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and USA Today, ends the regular season with a 31-17 record. Because the Pac-12 Conference does not have a postseason softball tournament, Oregon will wait to learn its postseason future during the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament selection show, which starts at 6 p.m. Sunday.
