SPRINGFIELD -- Drury sophomore outfielder Rylee Kolb was named to the Great Lakes Valley Conference softball all-conference second team, the league announced last Thursday.
Kolb (Helias High School) led the Panthers this season with a .367 batting average (40-for-109), posting 24 RBI and 23 runs scored in 41 games with 31 starts. She had 14 extra-base hits, including three home runs, and had stolen four bases.
Kolb had 11 mulithit games, including going 3-for-4 with a grand slam in a 10-2 win May 1 against Illinois-Springfield. She hit safely in 14 of the team’s final 17 games, pushing her batting average as high as .403 on April 30.
Drury tied for third in the GLVC regular-season standings and lost 1-0 to Indianapolis in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament. However, the Panthers received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament, which marks the program’s first tournament appearance.
Drury began the Midwest Regional on Thursday in Evansville, Ind., with a 1-0 win in 14 innings against Lindenwood. Kolb batted 3-for-7 from the leadoff spot, finishing a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.
The Panthers’ season ended Friday with back-to-back losses to Saginaw Valley State (2-0) and Southern Indiana (9-3).
Drury finished the season with a 37-17 record, setting the program’s record for most single-season wins with Thursday’s extra-innings victory.
