RUSSELLVILLE -- A four-run first inning Thursday propelled the Russellville Indians to an 8-5 victory against the South Callaway Bulldogs in Show-Me Conference play.
Chris Seaver drew a walk with the bases loaded, Brennen Stinson and Seaver each scored on an error and Bryce Bryant added an RBI single in the opening inning to put the Indians in front 4-0.
Ethan Edwards and Jacob Lallier hit back-to-back RBI singles in the third for South Callaway, cutting its deficit in half, but Russellville extended its lead back to four runs in the fourth. Jake Schulte hit an RBI double and Charlie Miller followed with an RBI single to make the score 6-2.
Bryant added an RBI single in the fifth and Miller scored on an error in the sixth for Russellville’s remaining runs.
South Callaway scored three times in the top of the sixth, closing the gap to 7-5.
Tanner Marty had an RBI double and later scored on a fielder’s choice, then JT Thomas drove in another run with a double for the Bulldogs.
Schulte went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for Russellville, while Bryant had two hits and two RBI.
Edwards and Owen Rees each had two singles to lead South Callaway’s offense.
Logan Cinotto pitched the first three innings for the Indians, striking out four and walking three. Schulte added three strikeouts in 2⅓ innings of relief and Jesse Daniel pitched the final 1⅔ innings to close the win.
Jacob Martin pitched four innings for the Bulldogs, striking out three and walking two. Thomas added one strikeout and three walks in two innings of relief.
Russellville (23-4, 5-2 Show-Me), ranked No. 3 in Class 2, will be the No. 1 seed in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament at New Bloomfield. The Indians await the winner of No. 4 New Bloomfield (7-9) and No. 5 Vienna (13-6) in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Monday.
South Callaway (13-14, 4-3 Show-Me) is the No. 3 seed in the Class 3 District 7 Tournament, which will take place in Mokane.
The Bulldogs face second-seeded Montgomery County (10-7) in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Monday.
