The Callaway Community Hospital will temporarily cease operations as of 5 p.m. tonight.
According to a release, the hospital will reopen when it can "return to delivering high-quality, safe care."
Audrain Community Hospital, which is part of the same medical system, and will also temporarily cease operations. Some physician offices that are also part of Noble Health will remain open.
During this time, hospital leadership will work on restructuring operations and become financially viable.
According to the release, staff will meet with staff twice a week while restructuring.
"We have a responsibility to the community to pull back and reassess our operations and structure so we can create a more sustainable healthcare system," Interim CEO Jeff Stone said. "This is not easy. But we know this is the right thing to do for the community and the future of its healthcare system."
During this time, all EMS services will continue to be diverted from other area hospitals, which started over the weekend.
Staff will continue to come to work and will be available to help patients with record requests.

"We appreciate the community's patience and support as we work through this," Stone said. "It's important that the community know just how committed we are to address these challenges."
Starting last Saturday, the two stopped inpatient admissions and diverted emergency medical services to other area hospitals.
According to the release, the move was to address "longstanding problems with their revenue cycle processes and electronic medical records, which has led to difficulties in the billing cycle creating cash flow problems."
