The Jefferson City Fire Department rescued two people from the Missouri River Wednesday afternoon after a kayak capsized. Both were seen by Cole and Callaway County Emergency Medical Services personnel for non-life-threatening injuries.

The rescue took place near the Noren access. Four fire trucks and seven fire department personnel responded to the incident, with four people manning a rescue boat.

The Jefferson City Police Department, Callaway and Cole County EMS, and the Missouri Highway Patrol also assisted with the rescue.

JCFD reminded people in a news release about the incident to "never enter the water alone and always wear an approved personal flotation device."
