A Jefferson City man will serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges he faced in two separate illegal narcotics cases.

Marty Love, 49, entered his plea during a hearing before Cole County Judge Cotton Walker. He will be given credit for time already served.

Marty Love pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree drug trafficking and one count of delivery of a controlled substance in connection with a February drug bust.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states JCPD SWAT members and members of the Mustang Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Love's residence in the 5400 block of Collier Lane.

Upon entry, Love was found in a bedroom and next to him detectives recovered a bag containing several bags of controlled substances, including 15 baggies containing suspected fentanyl, one baggie with crack cocaine and one baggie with methamphetamine.

Love was handling the bag containing the drugs, authorities said, when they found him in the residence.

Investigators also searched Love's vehicle and reportedly found a bag of crack cocaine.

Love also pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a narcotics search warrant served in May 2021 at a Jefferson City hotel.

Love pleaded guilty to felony counts of second-degree drug trafficking and delivery of a controlled substance. Prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Members of the Mustang Drug Task Force served the search warrant at Econo Lodge on Jefferson Street, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Authorities had conducted surveillance at the hotel and reportedly spotted Love leaving the hotel. He was detained, and officers went back to search the room he had been renting.

Inside the room, officers found two bags with $3,000 in cash. They also reported finding 30 grams of crack cocaine and 17 grams of powder cocaine.

Detectives also reported they found 0.2 grams of methamphetamine as well as an open box containing plastic bags and scissors, which were believed to be used for drug packaging.
