The Jefferson City Church of God in Christ will give away free gas Saturday.
The member of Missouri Western Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Evangelism Department of the Church of God and Christ will begin giving away gas at 10 a.m. on two pumps at JC Mart, 105 W. Dunklin St.
Jason Groce, department president, said the organization has raised about $1,000. It will limit how much gas each vehicle receives. It will give away gas until the funds run dry.
"Any individual who drives before the funds run out will get their gas paid for, and will be able to see the work of our Lord in their own community," a news release stated.
Groce said the church has a mandate to not only spread the Gospel, but to help those in need.
