Post 5 Juniors finish 4-0 to win G.B. Summer Bash

The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Juniors won the G.B. Summer Bash on Sunday, defeating Kelly Ryan Pride Post 1 of Omaha, Neb., by a score of 8-2 to finish the three-day tournament with a 4-0 record at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex.

The Post 5 Juniors never trailed in their finale, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings to build a 4-0 lead.

Jefferson City added two runs in the fifth, then Post 1 battled back with two runs in the sixth to make the score 6-2. The Post 5 Juniors then tacked on two more runs in the seventh.

Aiden Boeckmann hit a two-run single in the top of the first inning to give Jefferson City a 2-0 lead. Easton Stuckenschneider and Zach Wieberg hit back-to-back RBI singles in the second to double the lead.

Thorn Phillips hit an RBI single in the fifth and Kase Winegar scored on a wild pitch.

In the seventh, Conner Bax hit a two-run double to give the Post 5 Juniors a six-run lead.

Bax led the offense, going 3-for-5 with two singles. Wieberg also had two hits, collecting a second single.

Jacob Tellman was the winning pitcher for Jefferson City (13-4). In five scoreless innings, he struck out 10 and walked just one, giving up two hits.

Bax pitched the final two innings in relief, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out one.
