Bring your Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses and flip-flops to Scene One Theatre this weekend for a night of comedy with Off the Cuff Improv.

The short-form improvisational acting group is back at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Scene One Theatre, 623 Ohio St., with a beach party theme. Audience members are encouraged to come in their finest beach attire. There will be prizes for the best-dressed.

Off the Cuff's performances are inspired by the television show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and incorporate many games from the show, such as Party Quirks, Scenes from a Hat, The Irish Drinking Song and Let's Make a Date.

"If you've seen the TV show 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' and enjoyed it, you're going to love our show. We do the same kind of setup," host and actor Tim Thomas said.

The cast has added nine games to their lineup since their last show at Scene One in February. No show will ever be the same as the one before.

During the performance, the cast will get suggestions from the audience or game host, and the seven actors will make up the dialogue and scenes completely on the spot.

"Audience participation is highly encouraged," Thomas said. "The more the audience can get involved and give us some suggestions to work with, it gives the actors more of an opportunity to challenge themselves."

Tickets can be reserved for $15 by calling (573) 635-6713, by emailing [email protected] or online at sceneonetheatre.com, and there will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase at the show. The recommended minimum age for audience members is 16 years old.

Off the Cuff will also be holding auditions to join the group at 3 p.m. Aug. 21 at Scene One Theatre. Those who are interested and 18 or older are encouraged to audition.
