Granger Smith to perform at Angiepalooza fundraiser

Granger Smith will hit the stage at the 10th Annual Angiepalooza fundraiser.

The benefit concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater, Ellis Porter Drive.

Angiepalooza is a fundraiser in honor of founder Tim Tinnin's late wife, Angie, who lost her battle with colon cancer in 2012.

In his wife's honor, Tinnin created the Red Slipper Warrior Project, which gives special packages to cancer patients. Inside the packages are a pair of red, sequined slippers and a go-bag. Younger patients also receive Hope -- a white, stuffed bunny wearing its own pair of dazzling red slippers.

Lynn Cannon, executive director at the Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater, said the goal of the event is to familiarize more people with the Red Slipper Warrior Project, accept more donations and bring great live music to Jefferson City.

"This year we were searching for another artist with Tim, and he decided that Granger Smith's music -- young, country -- will bring in a whole new audience to his cause," she said.

The 42-year-old singer from Dallas, Texas, has amassed a large audience over the years. His number one single "Backroad Song" was one of the top 10 most played country singles in 2016 and granted him a BMI Country Award for writing, producing, publishing and performing the hit.

Aside from music, Smith is an author and host of the "Granger Smith Podcast." He and his wife, Amber, also started The River Kelly Fund -- a nonprofit in honor of their late son that aims to provide support for causes important to their family, such as children in need, wildlife preservation, arts and education, military and more.

Tickets for the concert are available now and start at $29 for lawn tickets and up to $55 for reserved seats. They can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or at the amphitheater box office, which is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
