Boys Basketball: Kickapoo 76, Fatima 68

WESTPHALIA -- The Fatima Comets dropped a 76-68 decision Friday to the defending Class 6 state champion Kickapoo Chiefs.

Kickapoo (11-2), ranked No. 7 in Class 6, led 36-24 at halftime, but the Comets battled their way back in the second half.

Fatima outscored Kickapoo 21-18 in the third quarter and went on a run to cut the Kickapoo lead to just one point with less than two minutes remaining. The Chiefs outscored the Comets by seven points from that point on for their eighth straight win.

Fatima was led by Nate Brandt with 28 points, while Lee Verslues added 12 points.

Fatima (8-4) will be back in action Tuesday night in the first round of the St. James Tournament against Salem.
