Your Opinion: Opinion piece disguised as news

Dear Editor:

I couldn't believe the News Tribune Jan. 7 front page headline, "You can't love your country only when you win" article! How can any legitimate newspaper print such a blatantly biased totally deceptive opinion piece disguised as news with no attempt to document any facts regarding the Jan. 6 protest?

I call it a largely peaceful protest, which was the terminology used by the Marxist Democrat Party mainstream and social media who dismissed all the killing, looting and burning of our cities during 2020.

To me it's expected, the leftist AP would omit any details which would undoubtedly expose the truth and the intent of the "get Trump kangaroo court 3.0." Why no mention of the murder of unarmed Ashli Babbitt, a 12-year Air Force veteran? Or the refusal by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the mayor of Washington, D.C. to honor Donald Trump's request for 10,000 National Guard troops for security? Or the folks being held as political prisoners without bail for misdemeanors and none charged with insurrection? Or the Capital Police opening the fence gates freely allowing the protesters in? Or ignoring Trump's tweet, "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!"?

What about Vice President Kamala Harris' stupid comparison of Jan. 6 to Pearl Harbor and Sept. 11? Any intelligent informed person would know it's absurd and the following incidents would be a real comparison to Jan. 6 but just doesn't promote the narrative: On March 1, 1954, four Puerto Rican Americans fired guns in the House of Representatives, injuring five congressmen; On Mar. 1, 1971, a bomb exploded in the Capitol Building; On Nov. 7, 1983, a bomb tore through the second floor of the Senate wing of the Capitol; In 1998 two Capitol Police officers were fatally shot.

I feel the real comparison to Jan. 6 is the killing of Babbitt to the unidentified "tank man" photographed standing up to a tank in China's Tiananmen Square on June 1989. Jan. 6 is their Tiananmen Square moment and the same ideological intent to quell and punish any resistance to their regime is more than obvious.

The Marxist Democrat Party with the help of a complicit media will do whatever is necessary to maintain their insatiable thirst for power and to eliminate any threat to that end.

God save our precious Republic!
