Lincoln men’s game vs. Newman postponed

It’s been more than a week since the Lincoln Blue Tigers men’s basketball team played a game.

The wait continues.

Lincoln was scheduled to host Newman in an MIAA contest tonight at Jason Gym. But the game has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Newman program. That comes after Lincoln had games last Thursday at Nebraska-Kearney and Saturday at Fort Hays State postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Blue Tigers’ program.

Newman has also called off its game Saturday at Central Missouri.

The Lincoln men are next scheduled to play Saturday afternoon at home against Central Oklahoma. Game time is 3 p.m.

The women’s game between Lincoln and Newman is still scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Both teams enter the game on eight-game losing streaks.

Newman (2-12 overall, 0-8 MIAA) is averaging just under 58 points per game while allowing 68.

Tiffany Dortland (5-foot-7, jr.) is the lone Jets player averaging in double figures at 10.8 points per game.

The Lincoln (4-10, 0-8) women are averaging just under 61 points per game, while allowing 74.

The Blue Tigers have six players averaging 7 or more points this season, led by Le’Yanna McGinnis at 9.8.

The Lincoln women are slated to host Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. Saturday.
