Lincoln University is closed Wednesday and Thursday because of the expected inclement weather.

All in-person classes on the Jefferson City campus are canceled, but regularly scheduled virtual classes will continue. The campus cafeteria will offer brunch and dinner.

“Inclement weather often results in conditions that make travel difficult and at times hazardous,” the university said in a news release. “We encourage you to carefully consider your personal safety and local conditions in determining your ability to commute to the campus in extreme weather.”

The university is also asking all students living on campus to move their vehicles to the Sherman Hall parking lot or the Collier-Hatcher parking lot by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Cars should be moved so the university can temporarily close some parking lots and clear snow from them, which could take a few days. According to the news release, parking lots, ADA entrances, emergency routes and public walkways are given priority for clearing.

The university will provide any additional weather updates via email, social media and text messages through the Rave Guardian system.

Lincoln is also asking students, faculty and staff to report snow and ice-related issues on campus to the Lincoln University Police Department at (573) 681-5555.
