Girls Basketball: Lebanon 61, Capital City 52

The Capital City Lady Cavaliers couldn’t overcome a tough shooting performance in the first half Monday, falling 61-52 to the Lebanon Lady Yellowjackets at Capital City High School.

Lebanon led 15-6 after one quarter and 29-14 at halftime.

Capital City made three 3-pointers in the third quarter to cut the lead to single digits at 43-34 entering the fourth quarter.

Jada Anderson had a team-high 15 points for the Lady Cavaliers. Danijah Fluellen and Kambry Pistel each added nine points.

Raegan McCowan, who signed last month with the Western Illinois women’s basketball team, scored 20 of her game-high 32 points in the first half for Lebanon (3-2).

Capital City (1-5) hosts Russellville on Friday. The JV game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 7:30 p.m.

In Monday’s JV game, Capital City defeated Lebanon 36-32 to improve to 3-1.

Amaura Austell and Emily Thames each scored nine points for the Lady Cavaliers.
