Girls Basketball: California 69, Eldon 43

TIPTON -- The California Lady Pintos used a big second quarter to advance to the title game of the Tipton Tournament, defeating the Eldon Lady Mustangs 69-43 in Wednesday’s second semifinal game.

A late push left Eldon trailing just 17-14 after the first quarter, but the Lady Pintos went on a 17-3 run in the second quarter to take control.

California held a 38-24 advantage at halftime and built on its lead in the third by outscoring the Lady Mustangs 18-8 to take a 56-32 lead to the fourth.

Eldon had two players reach double figures in points, as Haley Henderson led the way with 15 points while Jaci Mueller added 11.

The third-seeded Lady Mustangs (2-2) will play fourth-seeded Capital City in the third-place game at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

California had nine players score in the contest, led by Hailey Rademan with 20 points with Lauren Friedrich next with 15 points.

The second-seeded Lady Pintos (4-0) will take on top-seeded Tipton for the tournament championship at 7 p.m. Friday.
