A Jefferson City man has been charged with one count of second-degree statutory rape.
Stephen Gomez, 31, is alleged to have committed the crime between July 1 and Tuesday.
A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states a witness contacted officers Wednesday, saying he had knowledge that Gomez was allegedly having sex with the victim, who was 16.
Gomez was questioned by investigators and reportedly admitted to having relations with the victim on three occasions and that he knew the victim was considered a juvenile.
