JC Parks wants you to hit the trails this season

by Molly Morris | April 28, 2022 at 3:50 a.m.
Mike Rogers walks Wednesday, March 29, 2017, on the greenway trail near Dunklin Street in Jefferson City.

JC Parks challenges you to get outdoors and hit the trails this season.

Back for a second year, participants in the Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department's Trails Less Traveled Facebook Challenge are asked to walk, run or bike 22 miles May 1 through July 31. Miles should be tracked on a smartphone or activity tracker then shared on Facebook by tagging @JeffersonCityTrail Users and @JeffCityParks or posting to the Trails Less Traveled Facebook group page.

Participants will be entered in a raffle that will be drawn July 31.

It's free to participate, but registration is required now through July 31. For an optional $15 fee at registration, participants will receive a T-shirt.

Registration is available at or by calling 634-6482. Registration packets will be available for pickup from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Washington Park near the ice arena, 711 Kansas St. After Sunday, packets can be picked up at The Linc, 1299 Lafayette St.

For more information, visit the Trails Less Traveled Challenge Facebook page or contact JC Parks program manager Kevin Schwartz at [email protected]
