Gunshot victim dies after Fulton home invasion

Two people were shot, one fatally, during what authorities believe was a home invasion Monday night in Fulton.

In a press release, Fulton Police Chief Bill Ladwig said officers were called to investigate shots fired in the 300 block of West 9th Street just before 9 p.m.

Officers located a 33-year-old man that had a gunshot wound to the leg and a 58-year-old man with life threatening gunshot wounds. Officers provided aid to the severely injured man, but he was later pronounced deceased at a Columbia Hospital. The other man was transported to a hospital via private vehicle.

During their investigation, Ladwig said they learned that the incident began as a home invasion with a woman being assaulted before the shots were fired.

Ladwig said this is an ongoing investigation and no names of those involved are being released. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Fulton Police at (573) 592-3100.
