JCPD investigating several theft cases

The Jefferson City Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries that occurred early Wednesday morning along with several motor vehicle thefts.

JCPD spokesman Lt. David Williams said officers were summoned just after midnight to seven local businesses ranging from pawn stores to restaurants.

Investigators found five of the businesses suffered a burglary while two suffered damage during attempted entries.

During this time, officers also responded to the 700 block of West Stadium Boulevard to investigate a motor vehicle theft. The victim in that theft was allegedly approached by two subjects, one of which produced a handgun, demanding the keys. The victim was not injured and was able to provide a direction of travel to authorities.

"Although the department recently put out a release regarding unlocked vehicles, there were two vehicles stolen from the westside of Jefferson City, " Williams said. "Both of the vehicles were recovered. No forced entry was reported to either vehicle."

These are all ongoing investigations and anyone with information is urged to contact the Jefferson City Police Department at 573-634-6400, Crimestoppers 659-TIPS (659-8477) or at jeffcitycrimestoppers.com.
