Jefferson City Medical Group is announcing the addition of Dr. Shinal Patel, M.D., as its newest general surgeon.
Patel's passion for medicine started when she discovered how much she enjoyed using both anatomy and physiology to create wellness plans for her patients, according to a release from JCMG. Her vision is to serve and treat patients in the same approachable and relatable style of care she would want for herself and her family.
She received her bachelor of science in biology with a minor in neuroscience from Loyola University. She went on to earn her doctor of medicine from St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she served as chief resident.
She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery. She served on various educational committees and continues to be a researcher and presenter in her specialties.
She grew up in San Jose, California, and came to the Midwest for school and training. Her family still lives in California, but after establishing roots and relationships in Mid-Missouri, she made the area her permanent home. She enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, snowboarding and competitive soccer.
