Your Opinion: Government boondoggles

Dear Editor:

I'm wondering how many of your readers are asking the questions about the future government electric car boondoggle; definition: "A wasteful and worthless project undertaken for political, corporate or personal gain, typically a government project funded by taxpayers."

Rivian electric car company went public last Wednesday in one of the biggest IPOs of the year. I call your attention to a Nov. 11 Wall Street Journal Editorial Board opinion: "Rivian, the Government Unicorn." A quote from the article: "The EV truck maker is worth $120.5 billion. It has sold 156 vehicles; but investors are betting investors won't let it fail." Investors or government?

I refer to a March 20, 2019, Fox News article: "Remember Solyndra? Loss of taxpayer millions now seems forgotten, expert says." A quote from the article: "It's been exactly ten years since the Solyndra solar power company accepted a loan of half a billion taxpayer dollars that would never be repaid. Now one industry expert says he's not sure any lessons have been learned in the years since."

I guess if one is an investor in unscrupulous companies that care nothing about our country's economic health but only their bottom line, then to get your return from the government's money laundering scheme(s) then the indications electric car companies could be it!

Electric cars are only a small part of the climate change money laundering scheme. If electric cars and eliminating fossil fuels are the answer to climate change, has anyone calculated the equivalent total electrical energy we will need to offset the elimination of gas and diesel vehicles and for heating and cooling homes and commercial buildings with the reduction and/or elimination of natural gas and oil? To think of the gazillion square miles of solar panels and windmills that will be needed primarily close to major cities to maintain effective transmission of electricity, is to me unbelievably unrealistic. I wonder what Biden's plan is? (LOL)

Nuclear could be the answer, but when one considers the last nuclear plant in the state of California was just shut down, why anyone would think the Marxist Democrats would support nuclear as an alternative?

I feel the real reason the Biden climate change initiatives are being forced on us is to launder billions of our tax dollars through woke corporation lobbyists back into the coffers of the DNC and to finance more mansions for the Clintons, Obamas and Bidens, et al.
