Taco John’s is planning to open two or three stores in Jefferson City.

The national Mexican fast-food chain, which currently has 11 locations in Missouri, has put a significant emphasis on expanding throughout the state. The brand has already negotiated a deal for Kansas City and is now looking at the St. Louis and Jefferson City  marketplaces.

Brooks Speirs, vice president of franchise development, said he is hoping to find a local franchisee to open the first store in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the other one or two stores in the middle of 2023.

“As we look into Jefferson City and St. Louis, we’re ideally trying to find a franchise owner,” Speirs said. “If not, we would potentially look at building corporate stores.”

This expansion is expected to add millions of dollars of investment and up to 50,000 square feet of commercial real estate creation, according to a news release. Each restaurant would have 25-30 employees, creating about 75-90 jobs total.
