Choral and band students from Jefferson City Public Schools will once again descend the steps of the Capitol Rotunda to spread Christmas cheer.

JC Schools presents its annual Capitol Caroling event at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Rotunda, 201 E. Capitol Ave. Performances will include 18 traditional holiday numbers and special selections by the symphonic band, high school orchestra and Jefferson City High School choirs.

Shawna Hendricks, who is helping organize the event and directing the choir, said this year is full of "a million moving pieces," one being the addition of 60 elementary students in a children's choir.

"People are very much excited to be able to perform for real," Hendricks said since the event was held virtually last year, "especially our senior class; they're super excited about it."

The event is free and open to the public.
