Dust off your best holiday costume and lace up your sneakers -- the annual Jingle Dash 5K will hit the ground running at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Binder Park.

The YMCA event costs $25 for adults and $20 for youths, if purchased in advanced; the cost on race day is $30 for adults and $25 for youths. Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters, which serves more than 150 families annually through community- and school-based mentoring programs.

BBBS Program Director Lee Knernschield said there is something special about seeing the Festival of Lights that's set up in the park during the race, all while benefiting the organization.

"The (Capital City) Festival of Lights is great to drive through, but walking through with lights just looks magical," Knernschield said. "It's a great way to put yourself in the Christmas spirit."

Packets can be picked up 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Knowles YMCA, 424 Stadium Blvd. Shirts are only guaranteed for those who pre-registered by Nov. 30.

The race will begin at the entrance to Binder Park off Henwick Lane and go through the Capital City Festival of Lights. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight or light source for safety on the path.

It is not a timed competitive event, but awards will be presented to the top three with the most festive holiday attire. Register at bit.ly/3IbrVHL.
