If you lace up your running or walking shoes Saturday, your steps can benefit two Capital City charitable organizations.

On Saturday, a Jefferson City Area Board of Realtors 5K event will benefit the Council for Drug Free Youth, and a Bubble and Bounces 5K Run/Walk will benefit the Pregnancy Help Center of Central Missouri.

Cinco de Mayo 5K to benefit CDFY

Back for the 15th year, the Cinco de Mayo 5K Run/Walk on Saturday will benefit the Council for Drug Free Youth.

Registration costs $25; pre-registration is encouraged at bit.ly/JCABOR5K2021 or the Jefferson City Area Board of Realtors office, 1906 Bubba Lane.

The event, which will be held rain or shine, begins with registration at 7 a.m. and the walk/run starting at 8 a.m. at the North Jefferson City Pavilion, 927 Fourth St. The course then turns onto Cedar City Drive, Oil Well Road and around the golf course to the Katy Trail before returning to the pavilion.

Awards will be given to overall female and male runner, and the top three female and male finishers in each category will receive a medal. All early registrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt; late registrants will receive shirts as long as supplies last.

For more details, visit the Cinco de Mayo 5K Run/Walk Facebook event.

Bubbles and Bounces 5K to benefit Pregnancy Help Center

The Bubble and Bounces 5K Run/Walk, which will benefit the Pregnancy Help Center of Central Missouri, starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Park Pavilion in Jefferson City.

The morning will also feature a live band, bubble and bouncing activities for children, and contests for baby stroller decorating and pet costumes. A free breakfast will be offered.

Race winners will receive trophies and medals.

The pre-registration deadline has passed, but onsite registration is available for $35. Corporate team registration and sponsorship is also available; visit www.friendsofphc.org for more details.
