For two days in April, the Jefferson City community and faith leaders will gather to improve their understanding and appreciation of different religions in Mid-Missouri.

The Festival of Faiths will feature speakers from Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Catholic and Protestant traditions.

The event, held at First Presbyterian Church, 324 Madison St., and First United Methodist Church, 201 Monroe St., is open to people of all faiths.

It will begin with a concert featuring singer, songwriter, author and peace activist David LaMotte at 7 p.m. April 20 at First Presbyterian Church.

The festival continues from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. April 21 at First United Methodist Church. During the event’s second day, meetings, workshops, a panel discussion and a lunch with speakers are planned. Scheduled presenters are Paul Knitter of the Union Theological Seminary; Chris Caras of the Council on American-Islamic Relations; Sean Thompson of the International Order of Buddhist Ministers; and Dan Reich, director of education of the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center at the St. Louis Jewish Federation.

Tickets cost $10 for the Friday concert or the Saturday event. Tickets for both days are $15. To register, donate or inquire about the event, email [email protected]
