Baggett shares SEC special teams player of week nod

December 3, 2014 at 12:18 a.m. | Updated December 3, 2014 at 12:18 a.m.

Missouri kicker Andrew Baggett was named the Southeastern Conference co-conference special teams player of the week.

Baggett hit field goals of 52 and 50 yards in the Tigers' 21-14 defeat of Arkansas to clinch an SEC East title. He is the first kicker in Missouri history to hit two 50-plus kicks in the same game.

"That's pretty good," Pinkel said. "You're lucky if you make one-of-four of those, so that really turned out well for us, obviously."

Baggett's third kick attempt Saturday was blocked.

"One of the field goals he kicked low," Pinkel said, "but obviously he made two big, big plays in a big game, so hopefully from a confidence standpoint, we just need him to be very, very successful here. We expect him to, like everybody else, continue to improve, but kicking is like basketball shooting a little bit. You get confidence from having success, and you're all out there by yourself. I think this will certainly be a positive for him."

Cameron Sutton of Tennessee shared the award.
