Leitao joins Tigers

Haith hires former DePaul, Virginia head coach June 16, 2012 at 4:43 a.m. | Updated June 16, 2012 at 4:43 a.m.

Missouri has hired former DePaul and Virginia head coach Dave Leitao as an assistant basketball coach, the school announced Friday.

Leitao, 52, is the final hire on Frank Haith's staff after three coaches left during the offseason.

"What a great complement to the University of Missouri to bring in a coach the caliber of Dave Leitao to work with our student athletes," Haith said in a release.

"Dave was a guy I really enjoyed competing against in the Atlantic Coast Conference because you knew his teams would play tough, physical and would really attack you every possession."

Leitao was the 2007 ACC Coach of the Year at Virginia where he led the Cavaliers to an 11-5 mark in conference play.
