No surprise that there aren't enough police to go around when you seem to need 2 or 3 squad cars for a simple traffic stop. What's up with that anyway? Got stopped recently for a taillight out and before it was all over there were THREE squad cars, all with lights flashing! Really? Anyone driving past would have thought it was a drug bust or something. As it was, didn't even get a citation; and that took three cars. SMH
Would be nice if it was that simple Rob. Unfortunately we live in the real world, and North Korea is a real threat to global stability and American interests. We'd be utter fools to ignore it.
Sequoia, re your comment about Minutemen v Bleeding Kansas. . .I just last evening read an interesting article in The Atlantic that talks about that very thing and uses the comparison of those events to illustrate the point. It can be found at their site with the title "Why the Citizen Militia Theory is the Worst Pro Gun Argument Ever."
The "new" biology of which you speak is a straw man. It's obvious that two women cannot conceive a child with one another. That's not the argument here. And creating a life is a quite separate issue from protecting and nurturing one. As far as laws, how marriage is defined and words having meaning, you just remember that when the bigoted ban on marriage equality is ruled unconstitutional.
Huh? This "goes" to show nothing of the sort. It merely shows your own prejudicial feelings on the subject. And what does "set-up to have babies" mean? Are you referring to their genitalia? That has nothing to do with caring for and rearing a child, which many gay and lesbian couples do a hell of a lot better than many heteros I know.
You pay your insurance and taxes; fine. But it's not just about you or your fiscal responsibilities. What about the dollars of other taxpayers who end up footing some of the costs of traffic fatalities? And believe me, it's a lot. According to the Centers for Disease Control, taxpayers in the state of California get hit for more than $4 billion a year due to costs incurred by car crash fatalities.
Of course, it's the CDC; which is a government entity, so I'm sure there are those who will feel that the information is part of some rigged conspiracy, masterminded by Obama.

Considering the fact that your first statement is untrue, why should I believe the rest of your tirade?

asb, I can't comment on the NT's reasons for using the term but its use has valid and legitimate historical antecedents, even within the Church.
