Wow, Sequoia your logic escapes me. To continue with that line of thinking then we should close down bars and liquor stores because you never know when a person gets drunk what they will do, maybe go home and beat the c rap out of their spouse or children, if they even make it home and didn't have an accident on they way and kill themselves or someone else. And we all know that the bar owners are making money at this kind of business - heaven forbid. Or lets close the sporting good stores that sell guns/rifles/bow&arrows because you never know which person buying these things will use them as weapons for mass distruction. We could go on and on with that kind of scenario......because you never know!!!!
I'm trying to think back on that and if I recall it was pretty much a done deal even before it went to vote -- so what would be the point???? I read the discussions on this thread regarding this matter from when it hit the paper and I do not recall anybody being in favor of it. And once again why would anybody vote on something that didn't give us a choice -- but to only satisfy those that felt they were making a choice by voting -- NOT and as a way for the good ol boys to look good, as they were being attacked by people who saw through this mess.....you're not one of those are you?????
I believe I made that statement -- you're point being?????
Also, isn't there such a thing as competition, seems like this was eliminated when the City forced a company down our throats, and eliminating any chance of another company from coming in here and competing for business, thus there are no options to us except to eat the c r a p that the city feeds us. AND IT DOESN'T TASTE GOOD!!!!!! PLUS I SMELL A RAT OR IS THAT SEVERAL RATS EVERY TIME I AM FORCED TO DO SOMETHING WITHOUT ANY OPTIONS....
I was paying for the lesser amount of trash I set out which was maybe 1 trash bag (bag not can) per month if that. I was happy - now I am paying for a trash bin that takes me several months to fill, a new truck that has a gizmo to lift your trash bin, a recycling bin (which I am more than happy to use, as I use to take my recycables to the recycling center (not a problem mind you, I'm all for recycling and have practiced this for years), its costing me 100% more than I use to pay for my small amount of trash I created. I've lived in cities that provided this service, you could use your own garbage can, they did provide a recycling container (smaller than the one we have here) and they picked up once a week - it was never a problem. Never understood why we needed pick up twice a week here, are people here trashier or what? If this farce was voted on I was not aware of it. Also, I compost, making use of fruit and vegetable waste as a way to nurish my garden.
About the same as any other scenario.....what good does jailing them do to the family of a lost child. They get out of jail and live their lives as before.....because more than likely they are not going to get life in prison, they will get out, after having learned their way around the law in the meantime. They have nothing better to do in prison than to think, and believe me they aren't thinking about why they are there, they are thinking how wrongfully they been accussed, or it wasn't their fault.....or how to behave in order to get early parole....the list goes on.....
Why do we need inspectors. Each property owner should be responsible for their property and maintaining it. If they fail to do that and something happens, tragically or otherwise, they loose their property. What if we make ourselves responsible rather than expecting the government to hold our hand every step we take. I just don't get why we continually expect the government to monitor what should be common sense. I know there are i d i o t s out there, but it doesn't help to let them off the hook, consequences are the best tool for learning. Unfortunately, we take away the real consequences and scream for government to hold our hand. Book em, Daniel - is that really what we need , is it really making a difference, all that does is relieve them of any responsibility and have their every minute of every day laid out of them - where's the responsibility in that and what are we really teaching. I know having your freedom taken away from you is a huge deal - but a free ride just the same. Take their property away from them without any possibility of acquiring any future property ownership seems to me to be a better deterent to being irresponsible.
JCLifer - don't you know its all about the doctrines and dogma that most religions have. Don't you know that you can go to some religions, confess your sins and they are immediately forgiven - therefore, allowing the forgiven to continue on as business as usual doing the same thing over and over, but they have been forgiven because they have confessed their sins. Don't you know that most religions have bishops, popes, or whatever to change the belief system as they see fit whenever they see fit. It's all about control. Afterall it keeps the money coming in to spend as they see fit. Before anybody jumps on me I know that most churches do a lot of good and help alot of people, but don't you think the same thing could be accomplished if everybody were to realize that we are here to serve each other (and I don't mean salvery), but genuine servistude and love one another equally. Its those religions that feel they don't have control over any single minded person (such as homosexuality) that they go whinning to the government to make a law against what they preceive as an inability to get those people under control - so their willing to do anything to have it their way.......
Does the Coffee Zone have a drive through? The Brew House does, so if you are in a hurry, a car works great here.
