What person in there right mind would pay $25,000 per acre, oh wait a minute our school board.
I agree with you but I heard this morning that even though the big academy building facility was voted down the district is still implementing the academy concept. What does this mean, our children will be pigeon holed into an educational path off of tests they take in 8th grade. Their whole education will be geared around what they like at 13 years old.
We need to let the school board know this is not acceptable. What 13 year old knows what they want to do for the rest of their lives? What college freshman really knows what they want to do for the rest of their lives? If you check statistics only around 25% of all college students graduate with the same major as what they started out with.
We may have won the battle but we also may be losing the war.
I am curious. Does the budget shortfall have anything to do with extravagant and excessive purchase of land to build a new high school “academy”. I just learned a week ago that the land was purchased for $25,000 per acre, yes I said $25,000 per acre. Does this sound excessive to anyone but me? Where did that money come from and why wasn’t the public made aware of this before the purchase? Guess what government officials this was the “taxpayers'” money not yours, where do you get off spending that kind of money on a proposal that hasn’t even been approved by the taxpayers.
I hear in the news everyday about the concerns with the nuclear power plant like Callaway which should be a concern but where is the concern over the nuclear reactor at Mizzou? I never see anything in the news about that reactor and it is a lot older than Callaway. I would like to see reports on their safety measures also.
If the personal property tax is voted out where are the taxes going to come from to fund everything that personal property tax funds. Some of you will say get rid of those things. Well that is fine if it was unnecessary wasteful spending but as mentioned before are good roads, hospitals, schools unnecessary. Hmmm. Here is another thought – what if it is decided to increase real property taxes to take care of the shortfall. That is a real possibly so who gets hurt the people who own the homes, business buildings, and farms. Renters think no problem won’t hurt me, oh yes it will when your landlord raises your rent to cover the added expense.
4:30 p.m. does seem to be a bit late.
That really makes me want to spend the day shopping in St. Louis or what about going to the zoo or the Science Museum. SAD!!!!!!
Being fat doesn't always mean they overeat; there are a lot of people out there that do not eat healthy. All they want to eat is junk/fast food.
