You do realize we actually exceeded our debt limit in 2009 under a Democratic Congress and barely a word was said. Amazingly the treasury found a $150 billion just laying around through questionable actions that they could supposedly use - and Obama never threatened to not pay grandma SS as he did this time around. This whole episode is such a joke in how the media has portrayed the Republican House as obstructionists when it was the Senate that can't get a bill through.

Missing the point - the media has hyped this for weeks/months - before it happened. it did happen in 2009 and nobody cared. Why is that?

We actually exceeded the debt limit in 2009, under Obama and a Democratic congress. Get it, we actually did what they are saying is the end of the world now. The bank was broke and nothing happened. More importantly the media slept through it and didn't make it the top story for weeks, because apparently no one cared. Again we actually exceeded the debt limit in 2009. We aren't even there yet today and it has been hyped beyond all belief.

Funny that none of this was an issue when it actually happened and we exceeded the debt ceiling under Democratic control in 2009 and it barely made the news.

There's no media bias - that simply doesn't exist...

Considering the debt limit was already exceeded in December 2009 by billions of dollars under Democcratic leadership - and no one cared one bit - exactly why is this all being blamed on the GOP, and why is the press covering it so much now, when it didn't at all then?

Someone should do a story on this - Hey News Tribune you could lead the nation on this one.

So why wasn't this an issue when it happened back in December 2009 with Democratic control of both houses and Obama still at the helm?

There was no threats of not paying SS, Medicare, or Medicaid. Actually it wasn't much of a story, but it definitely has happened before. Unfortunately the media and the President are trying to blame it on the Republicans when the Democrats in the Senate are the ones who can't get any bills through. Simply ridiculous how the media has distorted this.
